Indian Fashionable Jewelry

aii_8090                          While we are talking about jewelry, I didn’t want to miss out on the topic on which every jewelry lover’s heart melts – traditional jewelry. I love to explore history and traditions related to different cultures and their different styles of jewelry. One of my personal favorites has been Indian jewelry. The intricate craftsmanship and lovely designs are a must watch if you haven’t seen till date. The jewelry style is elaborate. Most of this jewelry is hand made making it even more special.

If you talk about the fashion trends and fashion jewelry in India, it more or less follows that traditional style but with a few modern changes. The latest fashion trend of jewelry in India is two-tone gold jewelry. The traditional yellow gold jewelry now comes with rhodium or white gold detailing. Another fashion trend combines colored gemstones and diamonds in elaborate traditional designs with a modern twist. And then there are these ageless classic ppy_7995chandelier earrings that are called “jhoomke” which happen to be my personal favorite. Its not just the traditional designs, Indian fashion jewelry has a huge variety of chic, modern designs to choose from. I simply love the versatility. You can get beyond your imagination.

I have a diamond necklace from India that is truly breath taking. So fashion has no boundaries… explore!

Why people are crazy for fashionable jewelry?

Wearing jewelry has been as old as civilization or even older. Jewelry and adornments are not the modern age’s virtue but a tradition that has been passed on by cavemen. Earlier jewelry was worn to protect against evil, venom, bad sprits, nature’s wrath etc. our ancestors wore jewelry for a reason and today we wear jewelry for the love of it.

We love to wear jewelry that’s the latest in fashion because it makes us feel good, confident, up-to-date and of course beautiful. Jewelry is a form of human expression. Fashionable jewelry makes you look great. You know you are ready to handle all the attention you are grabbing for your drop dead gorgeous looks because you feel great too. So fashionable jewelry is more than just adornment… it’s a statement of self.

Various Variety of Pearl

These exquisite and alluring gems grow in pearl oysters and are prized for their layers of lustrous, iridescent coating called nacre. Today, over 95% of pearls are "cultured," which means they do not appear naturally but are grown and harvested. A bead is implanted in the mollusk, spurring the growth of nacre. Angara offers four varieties of beautiful pearls:

Freshwater - Cultivated in mollusks in lakes, rivers and ponds, most freshwater pearls come from China. While they look very similar to Akoyas, they are often smaller and less symmetrical - but they can be a very attractive and affordable alternative.

Akoya - These classic pearls come from the Akoya saltwater oyster, which is grown in Japan and China. The best color is white with rose overtones.

Tahitian - Dramatic and unique, these large pearls come in unique shades of black, silver, gray, green, gold and purple. They are a product of the black-lipped oyster in French Polynesia.

White South Sea - Larger than Akoya or freshwater pearls, these exceptional versions come from the white-lipped grown in Southeast Asia and French Polynesia. The best color is white with silver overtones.

Remember:

The more layers of nacre a pearl has, the more luster. Since a larger pearl has more layers, it makes sense that it would typically have more nacre.

The smoother the pearl, the more valuable. The finest pearls have hardly any bumps, pits or wrinkles - although since they come from nature, all pearls will have some surface characteristics.

Round is the classic.Pearls come in a variety of shapes, including teardrop and various assymetrical options. But the classic round shape - like Audrey Hepburn wore in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" - is the most sought-after.

Stunning Bracelet

The timeless appeal of gold is what makes it so very alluring and sought-after. Sometimes you just want to do away with the dazzling look that diamonds and gemstones lend and prefer donning a more subtle yet stylish look. The matte metal look of gold gives it an air of sophistication and class so much like this stunning bracelet. The intricate floral filigree work will make heads turn and take notice of the excellent craftsmanship.

Importance of Ring on an Engagement

It holds the promise of heartfelt love. A symbol of commitment, an engagement ring stands for the ultimate culmination of a relationship. What started as a simple band, has with time imbibed a lot of fashion and trends. One thing has remained constant, the importance and significance of an engagement ring. Did you know, in earlier times it was believed that the ring finger has a vein connecting directly to the heart making this finger perfect to sport it. Whether a simple band, a stunning diamond solitaire or a dash of colored gemstone, what matters most is what an engagement ring stands for, the very reason why even after centuries, it continues to remain a woman’s most prized possession.

It hardly matters how much an engagement ring is worth. One needn’t necessarily follow footsteps of celebrities like Michael Douglas who presented a diamond engagement ring worth $2 million to Catherine Zeta-Jones. The true value of a ring lies in the commitment, togetherness and mutual love it stands for.

Special Care for Pearl

Pearls are more delicate than other gems. Give them some special attention with these tips:

Apply makeup and hair products before you put on your pearls
▪ Avoid perfume when wearing pearls as the chemicals may cause damage
▪ Avoid wearing your pearls on days, and in situations, which are likely to cause heavy perspiration - these are to include extremely hot and humid weather conditions, saunas, the gym, during athletic activities, etc.
▪ When you take off your pearls, wipe them with a soft cloth to remove any build-up
▪ If your pearls get excessively dirty, professional cleaning is best, otherwise clean pearls with soft cloth slightly dampened with warm water - do not use a brush, which can scratch them - also, lay pearls flat to dry, do not hang them
▪ Excessive light and heat can bleach and crack your pearls, so keep them out of the sun and away from heat sources
▪ Store pearls wrapped on a soft cloth in a safe place, however, pearls will require air circulation and a certain level of humidity - avoid long-term storage in dry and sealed locations such as safe deposit boxes and plastic bags
▪ If you wear a pearl strand regularly, have it restrung once a year
▪ Pearls should never be cleaned with a commercial jewelry polishing cloth or jewelry cleaner as the chemicals contained in these solutions can cause deterioration
▪ As a helpful hint, remember "pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off!"

When was the last time you got something that said "I love you" louder than your words? Well, well. If you are in love and think she is the one ... express it. Boy, not just with the engagement ring but express your feelings again and again. One because that's how women are - they love to listen to it again and again and two she actually deserves it. Color Factor Of Precious Diamonds

Color

All About Color

A diamond's color really refers to its relative lack of color, at least in the traditional "white" diamond. The fewer colored tints a diamond has, the more light can pass through, which increases its sparkle and brilliance.

How color is measured:

Diamond color is graded a scale of "D" - colorless - to "Z", which is light yellow. Angara only carries high-quality stones with color grades of "I" or better, all of which are colorless or nearly colorless to the naked eye. While "D", "E," and "F" stones are the most colorless and therefore the most expensive, "G," "H," and "I" grades offer beautiful color at an excellent value.

Keep in mind:

Natural "fancy" colored diamonds,a including canary yellow, pink and brown, do not follow the D - Z scale. In fact, these rare and valuable stones are highly prized for their vibrant colors.

What should you spend for Jewelry

Ask most jewelry salespeople this question, and they'll tell you that it should be around two to three months of your salary. That equates to 16.67% to 25.00% of your annual salary, which is a strange rule to us, personally. We don't think it's possible to equate your love to a specific percentage of your income, but as far as "models" go, it's a relatively well-accepted one.

Our opinion?

We think you should spend what makes you comfortable, and what will make her happy. We've found that some women like the idea of a near-flawless stone much more, and some like having something that's more substantial in size. These are tradeoffs you'll need to get insight into before making your final decision.

Whatever you decide, we'll have something that fits your needs. Just remember not to be over-pressured by the "societal need" to impress, or stretch yourself so thin that you'll end up regretting your purchase decision. Besides, you've got to make sure you've got enough left over for the honeymoon, right?
